Map of the Ox Team or the Old Oregon Trail by Ezra Meeker in 1852-1906. The Oregon Trail was one of the main overland migration routes on the North American continent. The four to six month journey spanned over half the continent as the wagon trail proceeded about 2,000 miles (3,200 km) west through territories and land later to become six U.S. states: Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon.
This map is showing sites along the Mormon Trail or Mormon Pioneer Trail route that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traveled from 1846-1857. Today the Mormon Trail is a part of the United States National Trails System, as the Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail.
