The Berber mapmaker al-Idrisi was one of the leading geographers of medieval Europe. The map is probably the most accurate depiction of Europe, North Africa and western Asia to be produced in medieval times.

This is historic map of Tripoli the city in Libya, by Piri Reis (full name Hadji Muhiddin Piri Ibn Hadji Mehmed) from the Book of Navigation (Kitab-ı Bahriye). Piri Reis was born between 1465 and 1470 and died in 1554 or 1555. He was an Ottoman Kaptan-ı Derya, geographer and cartographer.
